Famous Celebs Who Have Never Married

For awhile there it seemed like running off to get married (multiple times) was a common thing to do among celebrities–especially the Millennial generation. Now that trend seems to have died off and more and more people have decided to steer clear of wedding madness altogether. They focus on themselves, their careers, philanthropic endeavors... and that’s about it!

There are plenty of celebrities have never been married and not just the Millennials either, tons of celebs, from their 40s and well into their 70s have never been married and have no desire to ever do so. Some don't believe in the institution of marriage as a whole, while others just don’t have the time or patience to settle down. They already have financial security and in many cases children of their own, and they just don’t see a purpose to getting married.
Al Pacino
Al Pacino is a notorious dodger of the marriage topic in interviews and in life. With three kids of and a long list of former lovers, The Godfather did consider marrying actress Beverly D'Angelo (who he has twins with) but the two called it quits instead. He has also had a long-term relationship with Diane Keaton but wasn’t able to tie the knot with her either. Now he’s dating 37-year old actress Lucila Sola.
Leonardo DiCaprio
When professional bachelor Leonardo Dicaprio was asked if he believes in marriage, he replied, "That time will come when that time comes. The truth is, you can’t predict marriage. You can’t plan it. It’s just going to happen when it happens." It's no wonder he isn't worried about settling down, the 42-year-old actor has been just about every woman's 'dream guy' his entire adult life. He also spent his youth as a 'teen heart throb' thanks to his role in "Growing pains" in the 1990s.
Winona Ryder
Winona Ryder still hasn’t been married, although, she almost married Johnny Depp back in 1990. The couple got engaged and she was the inspiration for Depp’s famous "Wino Forever" tattoo. Ryder is now dating fashion designer Scott Mackinlay Hahn, whom she's been with since 2011. As recently as 2016. She has expressed a desire to stay unmarried rather than go through a divorce. She’s not against marriage, just (wisely) cautious.
Ricky Gervais
Comedian Ricky Gervais seems to be after a world record where his love life is concerned, having spent 30 years with the same woman yet never officiating it. His partner Jane Fallon has stated the two of them have no desire to be parents, and according to Gervais stated, "There's no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God."
John Cusack
John Cusack has had many relationships with several famous actresses (mostly kept out of the spotlight) but apparently, he still hasn’t met “Mrs. right.” Some of the high profile beauties he’s had romances with include, Neve Campbell, Minnie Driver, and “Say Anything” co-star Lili Taylor.
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey has definitely been way too busy conquering the world to settle down and get married. Although, the Producer, Journalist, and successful business woman has been dating Stedman Graham for over 25 years. Every few years or so the rumor mill spits out a story of these two finally tying the knot. And every time Oprah steps up and says she has plenty of projects in the works but a wedding isn't one of them.
Coco Chanel
Fashion designer Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel never married or had children. She was too busy being a powerful, inspiring, and glamorous force of nature. There were always rumors about Coco’s various love affairs, she was so mysterious. She did have a 10-year relationship with the Duke of Westminster, he built her a lavish villa and gave her an extravagant emerald but she never married him. When asked why she stated:
"There have been several Duchesses of Westminster. There is only one Channel."
Diane Keaton
Actress Diane Keaton has quite the impressive list of former suitors. Al Pacino, Warren Beatty, and Woody Allen to name a few. The man she really wanted to make it work with was Pacino. They spent 5-years together but according to Keaton, she was never realistic with love and ”he was even less inclined to be realistic than me. And I was on the cusp of being very old. So that poor guy. I don’t think he was really that interested. And I don’t think a long-term happy marriage would be easy for him.”
Mary-Louise Parker
Actress Mary-Louise Parker is best known for her lead role on the hit television series Weeds; which she received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in 2006. Parker has also been in films appeared in films like Fried Green Tomatoes and Boys on the Side, in addition to series like The West Wing and Angels in America. In her personal life, Parker had a son in 2004) with Billy Crudup, but she never married. Eventually, she wanted another child and adopted a daughter in 2007.
Sheryl Crow
Musician Sheryl Crow has been romantically involved with some of the biggest names in film, music, and sports. Among the more notable are actor Owen Wilson, musician Eric Clapton, and cyclist Lance Armstrong. While she’s open to marriage eventually, it just hasn’t happened for the mother of two. When asked what she’s learned from love over the years, Crow said
“I think I would skip the engagement part [next] time, having been engaged a couple times,” she says. “If I was that close to getting married, I would just go do it.”
Bill Maher
Comedian Bill Maher has had his fair share of flings and a few serious relationships in his past but he’s never been married. His list of lost loves includes Playboy Cyber Girl Coco Johnsen, neuroscientist Cara Santa Maria, and author Karrine Steffans. The 61-year old New York native seems more than content to just focus on his busy career. Over the years he’s taken on the role of producer, commentator, and scriptwriter.

Mad Men star Jon Hamm had an 18-year relationship with his frequent co-star Jennifer Westfeldt. Sadly the pair split in 2015 and Hamm made no attempt to hide his devastation. Two years after their breakup, he still remarks on how hard the transition to single life has been. The stunning woman who brought the ever-so-charming Lorelai Gilmore to life has yet to tie the knot. Graham has been in a long-term relationship with actor Peter Krause. Wedding Crashers star Owen Wilson seems to have no intentions of walking down the aisle anytime soon. He has dated several A-list celebrities and even has a couple of children with two women. The 39-year-old actress spent eight-years with film-maker George Augusto before meeting her current beau, Ryan Gosling. Mendes has shared her thoughts on marriage openly to the media in the past, stating

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron is more into long-term relationships than life-long partnerships. She dated actor Stuart Townsend from 2001 to 2010 but they never planned to marry. In a 2011 interview, Theron stated,
"Marriage was never something that was important to me. I don't know the exact reason for that. I really want for myself a long-term relationship and I have been in long-term relationships . . . Seth MacFarlane
Seth MacFarlane, the mastermind behind the popular animated series, Family Guy is among the pool of celebrities who just don’t seem to want to marry. He briefly dated actress Emilia Clarke–the gorgeous ‘khaleesi’ of Game of Thrones. As is often the case with celebrity couples, scheduling conflicts and distance put too much strain on the relationship.
Drew Carey
Everyone was pretty convinced Drew Carey and his longtime partner Nicole Jaracz were going to get married but alas, it wasn’t so. Carey proposed to her back in 2007 and has always been a father figure to her son Connor, from a previous relationship. They had no children together and called off their engagement in 2012.
Tim Robbins
Tim Robbins has never been married but he spent 20-years in a relationship with Susan Sarandon. The duo got together back in 1988 after meeting on the set of Bull Durham. They have two sons together John "Jack" Henry and Miles Guthrie.

Susan Sarandon spent 23-years dating actor Tim Robbins before splitting up in 2009. She later revealed her reasons for not wanting to tie the knot,

Allison Janney
Self-proclaimed player, Allison Janney has no plans to settle down. The 57-year old comedic actress currently co-stars alongside Anna Faris in the hit show Mom and has no intentions of slowing down. She once told an E! Interviewer, "I want to be a player! I'm still single! I want to feel sexy and young and pretty for as long as I can."
Garry Shandling
Comedian Garry Shandling has never been one to discuss his personal life with the media but it’s no secret that he’s never married. He has come close, he was engaged for 7-years to Playboy model Linda Doucett. They shared an apartment from 1987 to 1994 but never had children or married.
Wilt Chamberlain
Wilt Chamberlain never married or had children (that anyone knows of) but he claimed to have had sex with over 20,000 women. That's a whole lot of possible 'baby mamas' out there. He made it a point to never sleep with a married woman–because you've got to draw the line somewhere. And he never showed interest in getting married himself.
Dana Delany
While producer/actress Dana Delaney has never been married, she certainly isn’t opposed to the idea. Back in 2007, the 61-year-old said
"Marriage has never been a big deal for me, but I think I’m ready now... I got to have all the fun in the world, to experience a lot of people and figure out what I really like."
Kristin Davis
Kristin Davis may have been the most hubby-hungry gal on
Sex and the City, but in real-life she couldn’t be happier than just focusing her daughter Gemma Rose. She also puts a lot of time into saving the elephants and then there’s her acting career keeping her busy. According to Davis, getting married is not even on her list of priorities right now.

Chelsea Handler
Comedian Chelsea Handler has never shown the slightest interest in marriage until recently.
"I don't know that I'm marriage material" she once said. When asked if she has a ‘type’ that she’s attracted to she replied,
“There are so many to sample. That’s why I just never want to get pigeon holed, there are just so many possibilities, you know what I’m saying?” Now that she’s over 40 and people have stopped bugging her about being single she’s open to marriage. She recently told Ellen Degeneres
“I'd do it out of rebellion.”
