1. In January 2017 it was confirmed that Russia had interfered with the 2016 general elections in the United States in order to help Donald Trump win the election. This confirmed came from the United States Intelligence Community- which claimed that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, was actively involved in the process. The Central Intelligence Agency found evidence from 2015 onwards to support this claim. While the former Obama administration has called for deeper investigation into the matter, Donald Trump has dismissed the CIA claims as ridiculous and untrue. His disapproval has ignited a debate in the political arena, considering that these findings shed a poor light on the Trump administration and could easily be used to cause potential voters to gravitate towards the democrats in the future.
